Seminole County's Acting Health Officer - Donna Walsh
Mrs. Walsh is the Acting Health Officer and Director of Community and Population Health at the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County and has led the organization as the Acting Health Officer for extended periods of time. She is a proven leader and excellent community liaison who is recognized for her expertise in the field of public health serving on multiple community boards, including the University of Central Florida Public Administration Advisory Board, University of Central Florida Institutional Biosafety Committee, Seminole County Youth Commission Board of Directors, J. Douglas Williams YMCA Family Center Board of Directors in Lake Mary, and Healthy Seminole Collaboration.
She recently completed the Florida Department of Health Leadership Institute and Leadership Seminole Class #21 in 2012 which opened a new dental clinic at Harvest Time International as a class project. Mrs. Walsh is a formally trained nurse and epidemiologist who has worked in the field of public health for over 29 years and held leadership positions with the Florida Department of Health for over 10 years. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida Nursing Program in 1986 and received her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida in 2008. She is recognized for establishing community partnerships and creating innovative solutions to meet the needs of communities.
She was instrumental in completing requirements for the recent Florida Department of Health accreditation application to the National Public Health Accreditation Board for Seminole County and facilitated the completion of the Community Health Assessment and Improvement Plan for the county. Mrs. Walsh was recently named as the Learning Partner for the Kresge Foundation Emerging Leaders in Public Health award received by the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County, and Leader of the Year for the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County in 2014.
