Third Annual Amoeba Summit 2017

 September 29, 2017 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Event Location

Florida Hospital Church
2800 North Orange Ave
Orlando, FL 32804

Join clinicians and specialists as we launch a national and international movement to end deaths from Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM) through workgroups in:
(1) prevention and awareness, (2) early detection and treatment, and (3) research.

The Jordan Smelski Foundation for Amoeba Awareness was established in loving memory of Jordan Cole Smelski who passed away from Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM) on July 2, 2014. Naegleria fowleri is an amoeba found around the world, often in warm or hot freshwater, such as lakes, rivers and hot springs, and, if contracted through the nose, can lead to PAM. The foundation’s primary goal is to increase awareness to the public about the risk associated with amoebas in fresh, warm waters and to inform the public of best practices for the prevention of PAM
