DOH-SEMINOLE CLEANING UP AS PART OF FLORIDA HEALTH CLEANS UP!

Sanford - The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County has adopted a 1.5 mile stretch of Airport Boulevard from 17-92 to Old Lake Mary Boulevard and will be cleaning it up as part of the Florida Health Cleans Up project! The clean-up will be from 3:30pm – 4:30 pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.

The Florida Department of Health recently announced the launch of the Florida Health Cleans Up! project in support of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) roadside litter prevention media campaign released earlier this year, “Drive it home…Keep Our Paradise Litter Free.” The clean up also helps participants stay active and healthy as part of the Department of Health’s Healthiest Weight Initiative.

“As a community organization, the health of our community starts with us,” said Dr. Swannie Jett, Health Officer of the Department of Health in Seminole County. “Adopt-a-Road is a great program where we can strengthen our partnership with Seminole County, and encourage our employees to stay active.”

Florida Health Cleans Up! is a venture of the Healthiest Weight Florida, a public-private collaboration bringing together state agencies, not-for-profit organizations, businesses and entire communities to help Florida’s children and adults make consistent, informed choices about healthy eating and active living. The Department’s goal is to encourage physical activity and walking while emphasizing how small choices affect your health and environment.
