Mobile Health Unit

Florida Department of Health in Seminole County

Due to repairs, the Mobile Health Unit will be out of service from Monday, February 20 through Monday, March 20, however we will be providing the following services at the scheduled locations:

  • Cholesterol Screening
  • A1C Screening
  • Weight Screening
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Information, education and referrals
  • Free Condoms

As of 2017, the first Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of every month, there will be free Dental screenings to all eligible patients who access the Mobile Health Unit (MHU).

The mobile health unit will be located at various homeless population sites, as well as other areas that have challenges with access to care throughout Seminole County. Locations include Remington Inn & Suites (Altamonte Springs), Rescue Outreach Mission (Sanford), and Suburban Inn (Casselberry). 

The homeless, uninsured, and underinsured populations will be able to obtain health services, screenings, and referrals. Individuals with chronic diseases such as diabetes can also utilize the mobile health unit. Services will not be limited to specified populations at special outreach events. 

On the road to a healthy Seminole- Mobile Health Unit

Health services include:

  • Family Planning – Birth Control and Rechecks, Pregnancy Testing, Vasectomy Referrals and Free Condoms.

  • Immunizations – Child and Adult, Flu and Pneumonia.

  • Physicals - School and College Entry.

  • Screenings – Diabetes, Hypertension, Cholesterol, Body Mass Index (BMI), and Blood Pressure.

  • STD, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis – Testing, Screening, and Education.

  • Referrals – Follow-up Care, Smoking Cessation and more.

In 2014, the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County (DOH-Seminole) collaborated with local stakeholders to identify priority health concerns in Seminole County. Chronic disease prevention was identified as our main focus and that’s why we spearheaded this initiative. DOH-Seminole purchased the mobile health unit to extend services to impoverished communities in Seminole County. DOH-Seminole aims to build a healthier community.
