Florida Department of Health in Seminole County

The Office of Public Health Planning and Policy Research (PHPPR) at the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County (DOH-Seminole) will provide public health assessments and program evaluations that deliver a broad range of comprehensive, population-based data for the use of community organizations, healthcare providers, public agencies, policy makers and the general public.

Areas of focus will include: population health, health informatics, chronic disease surveillance, injury prevention, hospital associated infections, environmental health assessments, and health equity/health disparities research.


  • Data analysis services which aim to aid hospitals in directing clinical services to vulnerable populations.

  • Gathering and analyzing of timely, locally relevant and accurate information to the State and community on chronic disease prevention and injury control.

  • Development of effective interventions in partnership with community members to reduce and eliminate health disparities.

  • Program evaluation.

  • Health Impact Assessment (HIA)

  • Health Needs Assessment (HNA)

  • Publication of “Seminole Matters” newsletter focusing on cities and neighborhoods in the county.

  • Compilation and editing of Annual Health Report for Seminole County.

  • Analysis of sub-county level data to look at health disparities amongst populations in Seminole County.

  • Participation in various community coalitions such as Health Seminole Collaboration, partnership meetings and events.

  • Grant writing and research.

  • GIS mapping.
