Healthy Seminole

Currently, the Healthy Seminole Collaboration is working on the next three year Community Health Assessment, which will address the next phase of improving the health in Seminole County.

Community Achievements:

  • Pre-Diabetes Screening Events provided free screening, education and information to those at risk for developing diabetes. Screenings were provided by the YMCA of Central Florida and the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County.

  • “Pick of the Pantry” Cookbook was created in conjunction with the Seminole County Extension Center, University of Florida IFAS Seminole County Extension, Second Harvest Food Bank, local food pantries, WIC and School Health. The purpose of the cookbook is to share with families healthier recipes which can be prepared with items found in local food pantries, farmers markets, and local grocery stores. The cookbooks can be found at the local food pantries in Seminole County.

  • 2014 Central Florida Health Summit - Health leaders across Central Florida joined forces to build a more vibrant and healthy community. At the summit, leaders explored and discussed the major factors impacting Central Florida and how best to make the community a better place to live, work and play.
