Important Information for Applicants
- Background Screening and Drug Testing: A background screening will be conducted for positions designated as "sensitive." Drug testing will also be required for positions classified as "safety sensitive," in accordance with department policies. Applicants selected for such positions must provide their Social Security Number (SSN) for the screening process.

Emergency Duty Requirement
All employees may be required to work beyond normal hours or days during emergencies. Duties could include staffing Special Needs Shelters, Red Cross Shelters, or responding to bioterrorism incidents.
Veterans' Preference
The Florida Department of Health honors veterans by providing employment preference to eligible veterans and their spouses, as outlined in Chapter 295, Florida Statutes. To claim Veterans' Preference, submit supporting documentation such as a DD Form 214 (Member Copy #4) when applying. Documentation can be faxed to 1-888-403-2110 or uploaded as an attachment during the application process. Ensure all materials are submitted by the job announcement's closing date.
