The  Inagural Dr. Regina Benjamin Community Health Fair in Seminole County

SANFORD - In an effort to encourage Seminole County residents to live a healthier lifestyle, and create awareness of different resources in the community, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County, the Healthy Start Coalition in Seminole County and ONYX is hosting the Inaugural Dr. Regina Benjamin Community Health Fair.

The Community Health Fair will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 9am to 5pm at the Bettye D. Smith Cultural Center located at 119 West 5th Street, Sanford, FL 32771. The keynote speaker of the day is Dr. Regina Benjamin, 18th Surgeon General of the United States. The morning session includes a Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy Prevention Seminar and a Finance workshop.

Targeted health initiatives and health screenings such as diabetes, blood pressure, and HIV will take place from 1-5pm. “It is a privilege to have Dr. Regina Benjamin, former surgeon general in Seminole County to reach our community with her experiences and stories that will positively impact attendees of the forum and health fair,” said Dr. Swannie Jett, health officer of the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County. “This forum encompasses a variety of topics from teen pregnancy prevention and finance to important health issues and health screenings to encourage residents to take charge of the health.”
