Sanford, Fla.Healthy Seminole on the Move premieres on Seminole Government Television (SG-TV) tonight at 8:30 p.m. on Bright House channel 498. The quarterly, 30-minute talk show is hosted by Dr. Swannie Jett, a Tennessee State University graduate and Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County (DOH-Seminole).

Healthy Seminole on the Move is produced by DOH-Seminole and directed by SG-TV. The talk show is a destination for health professionals and stakeholders, not only to alert Seminole County residents about the latest health trends but also a comfortable setting for conversation.

Healthy Seminole on the Move is designed to empower healthcare consumers to take charge of their own health,” said Dr. Jett. “We provide information so that you can make informed decisions on how to handle your health concerns.”

Episode one will focus on homelessness and issues affecting healthcare. Special guests include Dr. Todd Husty, Seminole County EMS Director and Medical Doctor; and Bakari Burns, President and CEO of Health Care Center for the Homeless, Incorporated.

"Homelessness is an issue that adversely impacts our region in many ways,” said Chairman John Horan with Seminole County Government. “Seminole County has been a creative and effective regional partner because of the compassion of its citizens, the commitment of its leaders, and the competence of staffers, professionals and providers that address the issue."

In addition to the interviews, Healthy Seminole on the Move will also feature a segment entitled Tiffani on the Streets. Tiffani McDaniel, a graduate of Tennessee State University’s Mass Communication Program and Press Secretary for DOH-Seminole, is a field reporter for the show. She will travel to various Seminole County communities to ask residents and visitors general health-related questions. Central Florida residents are encouraged to submit health-related questions to Tiffani at Tiffani.McDaniel@flhealth.gov. In the subject line, type Attention: Tiffani on the Streets. Remember to include your name and city where you reside. Questions will be incorporated into upcoming Tiffani on the Streets segments.

Dr. Swannie Jett is a national leader in public health with 20 plus years’ of experience. In April 2013, he was appointed as Health Officer for DOH-Seminole. Currently, Dr. Jett serves as President for the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).
