Sanford, Fla. Every fourth Monday of each month starting May 23, 2016, the Epilepsy Association of Central Florida (EACF) will have a Case Manager to provide a variety of services at the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County (DOH-Seminole), located on 400 West Airport Boulevard, Sanford. The Association provides epilepsy neurology care, diagnostics like EEGs and MRIs as well as help in getting medication.

The Case Manager will be available to manage client intake and to develop individual action plans. All services are provided on a sliding fee scale. Call 407-422-1416 to schedule an appointment.

“EACF is extremely excited to partner and bring services closer to Seminole County residents,” said Chuck Carmen, Executive Director.

According to epilepsyassociation.com, epilepsy affects more people than Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, and Alzheimer’s Disease combined. One in twenty-six people will receive a diagnosis of epilepsy sometime during their lifetime. It is the fourth most common neurological disorder and affects people of all ages. Epilepsy is characterized by unpredictable seizures and can cause other health problems.

“We welcome EACF to our facility,” said Dr. Swannie Jett, Health Officer for DOH-Seminole. “This collaboration enables us to expand the health services provided to Seminole County residents.”

Established in 1962, EACF is a not-for-profit community based organization dedicated to serving the needs of those affected by epilepsy. EACF is a local, IRS approved direct-service agency where one-hundred percent of the funds received serve the citizens of Central Florida.
