Sanford, FL - The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County (DOH-Seminole) is celebrating 75 years of service to improve and protect the health of Seminole County residents and visitors. This celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the many contributions public health professionals have made along with community partners for a healthier Seminole County.

“Since its inception in 1941, DOH-Seminole has had the continuous mission of improving the quality of life and health outcomes of the residents and visitors to the county. Many initiatives and programs have been implemented in the areas of prevention, surveillance, diagnosis and treatment to benefit the community throughout the years, and today our dedicated staff remain committed to the public’s health,” said Donna Walsh, acting health officer for the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County.

Programs offered at DOH-Seminole include dental and clinical services, Healthy Start, Tobacco Prevention, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), School Health and Environmental Health. Making Healthy Communities a Reality is the theme for the 75 Year Anniversary Celebration. During this week DOH-Seminole will be celebrating with several activities including:

• Programs and Services exhibit for clients and the general public from Tuesday, November 1st through Friday, November 4th in the lobby of the health department office located at 400 West Airport Blvd. in Sanford.

• Public Health Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 4th in the auditorium of the health department office located at 400 West Airport Blvd. in Sanford.
