Sanford, Fla. - The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County along with the City of Altamonte Springs invites all Remington Inn residents to the Health Extravaganza at Remington that will take place on Friday, December 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Remington Inn & Suites located at 450 Douglas Avenue, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714.

“We are very excited to provide an opportunity to the Remington residents to learn more about the Seminole County Mobile Heath Unit and take advantage of the free health screenings available during the event and weekly visits. The Seminole County Mobile Health Unit is a collaboration to improve the community’s access to health services,” said Donna Walsh acting health officer for the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County.

During the Health Extravaganza, Remington residents will be able to meet and receive autographs from former Orlando Magic Player Anthony Bowie, and former Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and L.A. Lakers player Chuckie Atkins. Kids can enjoy bounce houses and face painting as well as free throw and 3 point contests at an outdoor basketball hoop. The Seminole County Bomb Squad and Seminole County Fire Department will have demonstrations. Food will be served, donated by the Chanell Wright Foundation.

The Seminole County Mobile Health Unit is funded by the following community partners: Seminole County Government, Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital, Healthy Start Coalition of Seminole County, True Health, and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, and operated by the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County. The mobile health unit provides family planning services, immunizations, STD, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, screenings, referrals, WIC services, and school physicals to the homeless, uninsured and underinsured on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis.
