Our mission is to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. We provide comprehensive programs and services that monitor, prevent, and control infectious diseases.

Epidemiology

Our epidemiology program is dedicated to monitoring and investigating diseases other than tuberculosis (TB), sexually transmitted diseases and infections (STD/STIs), and HIV/AIDS. We identify sources of outbreaks, intervene to protect at-risk individuals, and provide disease control education to the community, healthcare providers, and various institutions.

Disease Reporting

We facilitate the reporting of foodborne illnesses, rabies, mosquito and tick-borne diseases, influenza, and other reportable diseases. Healthcare professionals and laboratories can report diseases using our online forms or by contacting our Epidemiology Department. For urgent cases, our epidemiologist is available 24/7.

HIV/AIDS

Florida ranks as one of the top states for HIV infections. Our program provides confidential services, including free HIV testing, case management, medical care, and prevention education. We also offer affordable payment options for those who qualify.

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)

PrEP is a comprehensive HIV prevention strategy involving daily antiretroviral medications for HIV-negative individuals. Our program offers PrEP services by appointment on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to help reduce the risk of HIV infection.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD)

We provide confidential and affordable STD testing and treatment, including screenings for syphilis, HIV, hepatitis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. Our trained counselors offer education and support to reduce the risk of spreading infections.

Tuberculosis (TB)

Our TB program aims to protect residents from TB by offering case management, LTBI treatment, training, testing, and surveillance. We strive to prevent and control TB through comprehensive services and education.

Hepatitis

We offer no-cost viral hepatitis testing and vaccines for individuals at risk of hepatitis A, B, or C. Our program provides one-on-one support and education to help prevent the spread of hepatitis and manage infections.
