Florida has been heavily impacted by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The state continues to rank third in the nation in the cumulative number of AIDS cases and second in the nation in the cumulative number of HIV cases.
The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County HIV/AIDS Program has developed a comprehensive program for preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and for providing care and treatment to those already infected. This comprehensive approach includes HIV surveillance, education, prevention, counseling, testing, care, and treatment.
Based on the most recent Florida Department of Health’s HIV data, in 2022 there were:
- 124,577 people living with HIV (1,421 in Seminole County)
- 61,388 people living with AIDS
We continue to conduct surveillance of viral load suppression rates through evaluation, planning, and discussion. Our caring medical team provides confidential services.
